Tue Jan 07 05:40:00 UTC 2025: ## BRS Condemns Denial of Legal Counsel for K.T. Rama Rao in Formula-E Case

**Hyderabad, January 6, 2025** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly criticized the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for refusing to allow an advocate to accompany former minister K.T. Rama Rao during his questioning in connection with the Formula-E race case. The questioning was scheduled for Monday.

BRS leaders, including Singireddy Niranjan Reddy and K.P. Vivekanand, argued that denying Mr. Rao the presence of his lawyer violated his constitutional right under Article 21, which guarantees the right to legal representation during examination. They stated that Mr. Rao was willing to give his statement with his advocate present, but was denied entry to the ACB office.

The party further criticized the ACB for issuing the notice to Mr. Rao while the High Court was still deliberating on his petition to quash the case. BRS leaders accused the ACB of acting with “malafide intention” by barring the lawyer, highlighting the government’s previous refusal to discuss the matter in the Assembly, citing the ongoing court proceedings. They questioned the timing of the ACB’s notice, given the pending High Court decision.
