Tue Jan 07 05:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana High Court Rejects KTR’s Plea to Quash Anti-Corruption Case

**Hyderabad, India** – The Telangana High Court has rejected a petition filed by K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister, seeking to quash an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case against him. The case pertains to alleged irregularities in payments made to a Formula E car racing event.

While the court dismissed the petition, it did not grant KTR’s request for protection from arrest pending further investigation. The court previously ordered that KTR should not be arrested until a verdict is reached. The ACB alleges violations in the payment of funds, including the use of foreign currency without necessary approvals.

KTR’s legal team argued that the ACB case is politically motivated and lacks merit, citing procedural irregularities and inconsistencies in the investigation. They contended that the sections of the anti-corruption act applied to the case were inappropriate and that the allegations of bribery were unsubstantiated.

The state government’s legal representatives, however, maintained the validity of the charges, highlighting the alleged irregularities in payments and violations of financial regulations. They argued that the ACB’s investigation is ongoing and that KTR’s role in the alleged financial improprieties needs to be thoroughly investigated.

The High Court’s decision comes after a prolonged legal battle. The court heard arguments from both sides before reserving its judgment. The next steps in the investigation and legal proceedings remain to be seen. This development has significant political ramifications in Telangana, adding to the existing political tensions. The ACB investigation continues.
