**Virudhunagar, January 6, 2025** – A 45-year-old woman, K. Irulayee, has filed a complaint with the Virudhunagar Collector, V.P. Jeyaseelan, alleging that a relative forged her death certificate in 2004 and attempted to sell her ancestral property. Irulayee, from Pillaiyarkulam near Tiruchuli, claims she was alive at the time the certificate was issued and further alleges threats from the relative, identified as Jeyaraj.

Separately, Virudhunagar municipality ward 24 councillor K. Jayakumar has voiced concerns about the frequent malfunctioning of the Union Bank of India ATM-cum-cash deposit machine located on Katcheri Road. He highlighted the hardship faced by numerous Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme beneficiaries and women’s self-help group members who bank with the branch and rely on the ATM. The lack of alternative ATMs in the town exacerbates the problem, particularly as the kiosk locks after 9 p.m. Jayakumar urged the bank to replace the faulty ATM and install a separate cash deposit machine with a Tamil language interface.
