Sun Jan 05 21:10:52 UTC 2025: ## Gavaskar Snubbed at Border-Gavaskar Trophy Presentation
**Sydney, Australia** – Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed disappointment at being excluded from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy presentation ceremony on Sunday. Despite being one of the two cricket greats the trophy is named after, Gavaskar was not invited onto the dais to present the trophy to the winning Australian captain, Pat Cummins. Australia won the series 3-1, ending a 10-year drought.
Gavaskar, present at the Sydney Cricket Ground, watched from the boundary as Allan Border presented the trophy. He told Code Sports that he felt his presence should have been acknowledged regardless of the outcome, stating, “I certainly would have loved to have been there for the presentation. After all it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it is about Australia and India.” He added that he would have been happy to share the presentation with Border.
Cricket Australia reportedly planned for Gavaskar to present the trophy only if India had won or drawn the series. The highly anticipated series drew record crowds, including a record-breaking attendance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This marks Australia’s first Border-Gavaskar Trophy win since 2014-15.
