Mon Jan 06 13:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Afghanistan Clinch Test Series Victory Over Zimbabwe with Rashid Khan’s Bowling Masterclass

**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe:** Afghanistan secured a 1-0 Test series victory over Zimbabwe after a commanding 72-run win in the second Test at Bulawayo. The victory was largely due to a breathtaking bowling performance by Rashid Khan, who claimed a seven-wicket haul in the second innings, finishing with a remarkable match haul of 11 wickets.

Zimbabwe, resuming their second innings on 205 for 8, were quickly dismissed without adding to their overnight score. Rashid’s devastating spell dismantled the Zimbabwean batting lineup, with Craig Ervine, who had shown some resistance in the first innings, falling lbw for 53. While Richard Ngarava survived an early dropped catch, he was soon run out, highlighting Zimbabwe’s struggles.

Afghanistan’s success wasn’t solely reliant on Rashid’s bowling. In their first innings, centuries from Rahmat Shah (139) and Ismat Alam (101) helped them post a challenging total of 363, overcoming an initial first-innings deficit. Although Zimbabwe’s top order, including Sikandar Raza (61) and Ervine (75), contributed significantly in their first innings, they couldn’t replicate that performance against Afghanistan’s formidable bowling attack.

Despite valiant efforts from several Zimbabwean batsmen, including Ervine and Raza in both innings, none could withstand Rashid’s spin magic, who consistently removed key players throughout the match. The final day saw the Afghan bowlers maintain relentless pressure, culminating in a comprehensive victory and a series win for the visitors. The first Test ended in a draw.
