**Patna, Bihar – January 6, 2025** – Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has firmly dismissed rumours suggesting he might leave the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Speaking to reporters in Vaishali district during his ongoing ‘Pragati Yatra’, Mr. Kumar emphasized his long-standing relationship with the BJP, citing the support he received from former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Mr. Kumar described his previous alliances with the RJD-Congress combine as mistakes, highlighting Vajpayee’s instrumental role in his political career, including his appointment as a Union Minister and his subsequent elevation to Chief Minister in 2005. He attributed any previous shifts in alliances to errors made within his own Janata Dal (United) party, which he corrected promptly.
The Chief Minister’s statement comes in response to recent political speculation ignited by Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ambiguous comments on Mr. Kumar’s position as the BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Further fuel was added to the fire by RJD president Lalu Prasad’s recent overtures to Mr. Kumar. However, Mr. Kumar’s unequivocal declaration effectively quells, at least for now, these speculations regarding his future with the NDA.
