Mon Jan 06 15:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Wild Weather Swing: Unseasonably Warm Monday to Freezing Temperatures Tuesday in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida

**JACKSONVILLE, FL –** Residents of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida are urged to prepare for a dramatic weather shift over the next 48 hours. Monday will see unusually warm temperatures, reaching the upper 60s and low 70s, but a powerful storm system will bring a rapid and significant temperature drop overnight into Tuesday.

The day will start mild, with temperatures in the low 50s, rising into the low 60s by 10 a.m. However, strong southerly winds, increasing from 10 mph to over 30 mph by afternoon, will usher in a cold front. Rain is expected between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., with thunderstorms possible from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The National Weather Service warns of the potential for damaging winds, lightning, and heavy downpours.

Following the passage of the cold front, temperatures will plummet. A freeze watch is in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees possible. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect vulnerable plants and pets, and to prevent water pipes from freezing. A Small Craft Advisory and Gale Warning are also in effect through Tuesday.

This rapid weather change follows a path of severe weather impacting other states. Multiple tornado watches and warnings have already been issued across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Residents are urged to monitor weather forecasts closely and take necessary precautions.
