**Chennai, January 6, 2025** – The Madras High Court has reserved its judgment in a long-running disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan and his family. The case, dating back to 2002, alleges the accumulation of wealth between 1996 and 2001.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) filed the original complaint, leading to raids on the minister’s properties. In 2007, a special court discharged Duraimurugan, his wife, brother, son (now a Member of Parliament), and daughter-in-law.

The DVAC challenged this discharge in 2012, a delay the High Court condoned in 2013, citing the intervening period when the DMK was in power. The case has been pending since then.

Justice P. Velmurugan, expressing concern over the decade-long delay, heard arguments from both sides before reserving his order. The lengthy delay prompted the judge to urge for a swift resolution. The court’s decision is expected soon.
