**Bengaluru, January 6, 2025** – The Archives at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in Bengaluru has announced the call for applications for the fifth Obaid Siddiqi Chair in the History and Culture of Science. The prestigious 12-month position, supported by the TNQ Foundation, is open to scholars worldwide regardless of their discipline or educational background.
The Chair, named after the founder of the Molecular Biology Unit at TIFR, seeks a distinguished scholar with a significant body of work that fosters interdisciplinary understanding of the history and culture of science and actively engages the public. Previous holders include Dr. M.D. Madhusudan, Prof. G.N. Devy, and Prof. Gita Chadha. The current Chair is Dr. Savithri Preetha Nair.
The NCBS aims to bridge the gap between the sciences, social sciences, and humanities through this Chair, fostering a diverse academic community and building teaching and research capacity in the field. Applicants from a wide range of disciplines, including history, philosophy, sociology, and the arts, are encouraged to apply.
