Sun Jan 05 20:30:00 UTC 2025: **Falcons Rule Out Key Players for Season Finale Against Panthers**
ATLANTA, GA – The Atlanta Falcons will be without several key players for their regular season finale against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney, just eight yards shy of a 1,000-yard receiving season, has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury. This prevents Mooney and teammate Drake London from becoming the first Falcons duo to each surpass 1,000 receiving yards since 2012 (Roddy White and Julio Jones). In Mooney’s absence, the Falcons will rely on KhaDarel Hodge, Chris Blair, and possibly rookie Casey Washington, who has been working closely with quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Adding to the injury woes, the Falcons also announced that cornerback Kevin King (concussion) and linebacker JD Bertrand (eye injury) are inactive. King’s absence impacts the secondary’s depth, while Bertrand’s absence further depletes the linebacker corps, already affected by Troy Andersen’s injury. The full list of inactive players was released by the team. Despite the absences, the Falcons will face the Panthers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 1 p.m. ET.
