Sun Jan 05 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## PM Modi Inaugurates Delhi-Meerut Namō Bharat Corridor, Cutting Travel Time to 40 Minutes

**New Delhi, [Date]** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a 13-kilometer extension of the Namō Bharat Express train corridor connecting Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. This extension significantly reduces travel time between Meerut South station and New Delhi, now a mere 40-minute journey.

Previously, passengers traveling from Meerut South had to disembark at Sahibabad and find alternative transport to reach their final destination in Delhi. The new corridor eliminates this inconvenience, offering a direct and faster connection. PM Modi himself travelled on the inaugural run, purchasing an NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) for the journey.

The expanded corridor now spans 55 kilometers, incorporating 13 stations, compared to the previous 42-kilometer stretch with 9 stations between Sahibabad and Meerut South. Fares for the extended route are ₹150 for standard coaches and ₹225 for premium coaches.

The Prime Minister interacted with passengers during his journey, including engineering students who discussed the corridor’s technology and schoolchildren who presented artwork, poems, and songs inspired by the project.

The Namō Bharat Express will now operate from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar from 5 PM onwards. Further expansion plans are underway to extend the service from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan and from Meerut South to Modipuram by 2025. This will create a seamless connection between Meerut Modipuram and Sarai Kale Khan.
