**VISAKHAPATNAM, January 4, 2025** – Visakhapatnam police employed a novel technology to prevent missing children at the Indian Navy’s Operational Demonstration on Beach Road Saturday. Over 2,000 children attending the event were given QR-coded wristbands containing their names, parents’ contact information, and other details. If a child goes missing, scanning the QR code will instantly provide crucial information to assist in their recovery.

Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi stated this is the first time such technology has been used in the city to address the issue of missing children at large-scale public events. The initiative involved collecting parental data upon entry and distributing the RFID-driven tags to each child. The successful implementation is being lauded as a significant step in ensuring child safety during public gatherings.
