**Mangaluru, January 5, 2025** – Udupi police have arrested a 19-year-old youth, Mohammed Ashiq, for performing dangerous motorcycle stunts, known as “wheeling,” in Manipal. The arrest follows the widespread circulation of a video on social media showing Ashiq, a resident of Atrady village, performing wheelies on National Highway 169A and Rajatadari Road.
A police team, led by Manipal Police Inspector Devaraj, identified Ashiq as the rider. He has been charged under sections 281 and 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for his actions. The motorcycle used in the stunts has been seized. Police noted that Ashiq has a prior record with Manipal police for rash and negligent driving.
