**Chennai, January 5, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government announced the recipients of several prestigious awards recognizing contributions to literature, social activism, and public service. The awards, including the Anna Award, Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award, and others, will be presented by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on January 15th.

Among the notable recipients are DMK leader L. Ganesan, who spearheaded the anti-Hindi agitation, receiving the Anna Award; poet Kabilan, awarded the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award; and Muthu Vavasi, who will receive the prestigious Kalaignar Award, which carries a ₹10 lakh prize. Other awardees include M. Padikkaramu (Ayyan Thiruvalluvar Award), Pon. Selvaganapathy (Bharathidasan Award), G.R. Ravindaranath (Tamil Thendral Thiru. Vi. Ka. award), and Ve. Mu. Pothiyaverpan (KAP Viswanatham award). Journalist Viduthalai Rajendran and VCK MP Ravikumar will receive the Thanthai Periyar Award and Annal Ambedkar Award respectively.

Most awards include a ₹2 lakh cash prize, a gold medal, and a citation. The Thanthai Periyar and Annal Ambedkar awards carry a higher prize of ₹5 lakh, along with a gold medal and a citation.
