Sat Jan 04 18:59:21 UTC 2025: ## India Dominates Day Two of Sydney Test Despite Bumrah Injury

**Sydney, Australia:** India has taken a commanding lead in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a dominant second day’s play at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A stunning collapse by Australia in their first innings, coupled with a strong start to India’s second innings, has left the match poised for a swift conclusion.

India won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bowled out for 185. However, they swiftly turned the tables, dismissing Australia for 181, securing a slender four-run lead. The day saw a staggering 26 wickets fall across both innings – 11 on day one and 15 on day two.

The highlight of the day for India was the explosive batting of Rishabh Pant, who scored a quick-fire 61. However, the day ended on a sour note with the injury to captain Jasprit Bumrah, who left the field due to injury and was taken to hospital. His condition remains unclear.

Scott Boland was Australia’s most successful bowler, taking four wickets in India’s second innings. Pat Cummins and debutant Beau Webster claimed one each. For Australia, Beau Webster top-scored with 57 runs, while Steve Smith contributed 33. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna both took three wickets each for India, while Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy each took two.

At stumps on day two, India had reached 141/6 in their second innings, extending their lead to 145 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (8*) and Washington Sundar (6*) were at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) was a notable contributor in the top order.

The rapid-fire nature of the match suggests a result is highly likely on day three. The loss of Bumrah, however, will be a significant concern for the Indian team.
