**Mumbai, India –** The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai has been awarded the LEAPS-2024 Award in the Education and Skill Development category, recognizing its leading role in advancing logistics education and skill development in India. The prestigious award, presented by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, was given to IIM Mumbai Director Professor Manoj Tiwari.
IIM Mumbai beat out 34 competitors to secure the top spot in the annual LEAPS (Logistics Excellence, Advancement & Performance Shield) awards, an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the National Logistics Policy, 2022. The awards celebrate outstanding contributions to the logistics sector, focusing on MSMEs, startups, and innovators.
Professor Tiwari attributed the win to IIM Mumbai’s commitment to developing management education and skills for India’s growing logistics sector. He highlighted the institute’s focus on emerging trends like digital transformation, sustainability, and workforce capacity building. The institute’s contributions to the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy further solidified its position as a key player in shaping India’s logistics landscape.
The award underscores IIM Mumbai’s continued success; the institute, ranked 6th in the NIRF 2024 rankings, offers a wide range of programs including those focusing on Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and related fields. The leadership of IIM Mumbai’s Board of Governors Chairman, Shashi Kiran Shetty, founder and chairman of Allcargo Group, has been instrumental in driving these advancements. His experience in reshaping India’s logistics and supply chain industry has significantly contributed to the institute’s achievements.
