**Hyderabad, January 5, 2025** – The Telangana government announced the completion of Group-I officer recruitment by March 31, 2025, ending a 14-year hiatus. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attributed the delay to the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government’s inaction, highlighting that no Group-I examinations were conducted during their 11 years in power. In contrast, the Congress government, he stated, has filled 55,000 government jobs within a year of taking office.
The announcement coincided with the distribution of ₹1 lakh cheques to 20 civil services aspirants who cleared the Mains examination under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham scheme. This scheme, supported by Singareni Collieries Company Limited, aims to encourage Telangana youth to pursue national-level civil service careers. The Chief Minister emphasized that the financial aid is intended as encouragement, not merely financial assistance. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka added that hostel facilities in New Delhi will be provided to those selected for the interview stage.
Mr. Reddy also criticized the BRS government for allegedly using Singareni Collieries for political gain rather than focusing on international expansion. The scheme provides financial assistance to approximately 400 Mains qualifiers annually; 135 aspirants received similar cheques in December 2023. The event was attended by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, and SCCL Chairman N. Balram.
