**Dantewada, Chhattisgarh (January 5, 2025)** – Four Naxalites were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Saturday evening, according to a senior police official. The encounter took place in a forest in south Abujhmaad, on the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) head constable, Sannu Karam, also lost his life in the exchange of fire.

The joint operation involved the DRG and Special Task Force (STF), launched on Friday. Following the gun battle, security forces recovered the bodies of the four Naxalites along with automatic weapons, including AK-47 and SLR rifles. A search operation continues in the area.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai confirmed the incident via a post on X, expressing grief over the death of the police officer and vowing to continue the fight against Naxalism. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to eliminate the Naxal menace.

This encounter follows a similar incident on January 3rd, where one Naxalite was killed in Gariaband district. In 2024, security forces neutralized a total of 219 Naxalites in the state. The Bastar region, encompassing seven districts, remains a focal point of anti-Naxal operations.
