Sun Jan 05 04:09:54 UTC 2025: ## BJP Unveils First List of Candidates for Delhi Assembly Elections
**New Delhi, January 4** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, expected to be held in February. The list includes several high-profile defectors from other parties, signaling a fierce contest ahead.
Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma will challenge Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. Former AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, who joined the BJP in November, will contest from Bijwasan. Another notable addition is former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, now a BJP candidate in Gandhi Nagar. Former AAP and BSP member, Raaj Kumar Anand, will contest from Patel Nagar. BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri will face off against AAP’s Atishi in Kalkaji.
The BJP’s strategy appears focused on attracting voters through a blend of established leaders and high-profile defections. The party is bracing for a three-way contest with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress, although several smaller parties will also be contesting. The AAP, currently in power, is aiming for a third consecutive term. The Election Commission is yet to announce the official election dates.
