**NELLORE, INDIA** – A house donated by legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam to the Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple for establishing a Vedic school remains unused five years after his passing. Balasubrahmanyam gifted his Nellore residence in February 2020, investing an additional ₹10 lakhs for renovations. While the Kanchi Peetham initially started a school with ten students, it was later shut down due to insufficient facilities. The building, valued at over ₹1 crore, now stands vacant, much to the disappointment of the singer’s fans and family.
The Kanchi Mutt manager, Nandakishore, explained that the inadequate infrastructure, specifically a makeshift tin shed on the verandah, made it unsuitable for the students. The students were subsequently transferred to another school and no activities are currently conducted at the Balasubrahmanyam residence. The temple is currently exploring options for future use of the property.
