Sun Jan 05 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## PM Modi Inaugurates Extended Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor, Expanding ‘Namo Bharat’ Train Service
**New Delhi:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated a 13-kilometer extension of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, connecting New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. This expansion significantly enhances the ‘Namo Bharat’ train service, reducing travel time between Delhi and Meerut to just 40 minutes.
The extended section adds 11 stations to the existing route, bringing the total number of stations on the operational 55-kilometer corridor to 11. Trains will operate every 15 minutes, with the first train departing at 5 PM.
Passengers can choose between standard and premium coaches, with fares at ₹150 and ₹225 respectively. The premium coach offers enhanced amenities and features a separate entry point and button-operated doors.
The extended service now runs between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, covering stations including New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Gul Dhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South.
The last train departs at 10:07 PM from both Meerut South and New Ashok Nagar, while the first train departs at 6:07 AM (8:07 AM on Sundays). The expansion is expected to greatly improve connectivity and reduce commute times for residents of Delhi and Meerut.
