Sat Jan 04 01:10:00 UTC 2025: **Rockets Soar Past Mavericks, 110-99, Behind Sengun and Green’s Strong Performances**

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Rockets defeated the Dallas Mavericks 110-99 Wednesday night, fueled by strong performances from Alperen Sengun (23 points) and Jalen Green (22 points). The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Houston.

The Rockets pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 21-8 to take a 61-52 halftime lead. A key factor in the run was Green’s eight points and two three-pointers from Cam Whitmore (18 points). Houston further extended their lead in the third quarter, going on an 11-4 run to build a comfortable advantage. They maintained a double-digit lead throughout the fourth, ultimately securing the victory. Dillon Brooks also contributed significantly with 19 points.

The Mavericks, playing without injured star Luka Doncic (calf strain), struggled to keep pace. Quentin Grimes led Dallas with 17 points off the bench, while Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson each scored 16. However, the Mavericks’ shooting was hampered by their 8-of-16 performance from the free-throw line, compared to Houston’s 18-of-23.

Despite the return of Irving, Thompson, and Dereck Lively II from injury, the Mavericks suffered their third loss in four games without Doncic, who is expected to be sidelined for at least a month. The Rockets also played without Amen Thompson, serving a suspension.

Both teams are back in action Friday. Dallas will host Cleveland, while Houston faces Boston.
