**New Delhi, January 6, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 at Bharat Mandapam today, highlighting the crucial role of prosperous villages in achieving India’s vision of a developed nation by 2047. The six-day festival, running from January 4th to 9th, is themed “Building a Resilient Rural India for a Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The event, also attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, featured interactions with artisans and a felicitation of PM Modi by NABARD chairperson Shaji KV. The Mahotsav aims to bolster rural infrastructure, foster self-reliant rural economies, and promote innovation through workshops, discussions, and masterclasses.
A key focus will be empowering rural women through entrepreneurship and addressing financial inclusion, particularly in Northeast India. The festival will also bring together government officials, experts, entrepreneurs, and artisans to create a roadmap for rural transformation, leveraging technology and showcasing India’s cultural heritage. The Prime Minister’s emphasis on rural development comes just a day after he inaugurated 1,675 new flats for residents of JJ clusters in Delhi.
