**PHOENIX, AZ (AZFamily) –** Phoenix shattered its previous record high temperature for February 16th, reaching a scorching 81 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday. This surpasses the old record of 79 degrees set in 1989 by a significant margin. The unusually warm day followed a pleasant morning with lows in the 50s and abundant sunshine. The 81-degree high is a remarkable 13 degrees above the average temperature for this time of year.

While Phoenix residents enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather, a change is on the horizon. Cooler temperatures are expected this weekend, with highs in the lower 70s. Another weather system arriving Tuesday will bring even more significant cooling, with highs dropping into the 60s and breezy conditions across the Valley.
