Fri Jan 03 17:58:20 UTC 2025: ## NIA Arrests Third Suspect in BJP Leader’s Murder
**PUNE, INDIA** – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced the arrest of a third suspect in the murder of BJP leader Bijoy Krishna Bhunia. Mohan Mondal was apprehended in Pune, Maharashtra, on Thursday in connection with the May 2023 killing. Bhunia was kidnapped and murdered in Moyna, West Bengal.
Mondal was the subject of non-bailable warrants after fleeing the scene. Two other suspects, Naba Kumar Mondal and Suvendu Bhowmick, were previously arrested.
The NIA took over the investigation from local police in April 2024 following a Calcutta High Court order. The agency is continuing its probe to uncover the full conspiracy behind Bhunia’s abduction and murder.
