Sat Jan 04 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Canucks Edge Kraken in Shootout, Following Close Loss to Predators

**Vancouver, BC –** The Vancouver Canucks narrowly defeated the Seattle Kraken 4-3 in a shootout on January 2nd, following a 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on November 17th. The back-to-back games highlighted both the Canucks’ offensive firepower and their defensive vulnerabilities.

In the recent matchup against the Kraken, Max Sasson and Conor Garland scored for Vancouver, with Tyler Myers adding another goal in the third period. Seattle’s Matty Beniers and Vince Dunn tied the game late, sending the game into a shootout where J.T. Miller secured the victory. Tyler Myers led the Canucks with five shots on goal, and Kiefer Sherwood contributed six hits. Thatcher Demko started in net, making 11 saves, with Kevin Lankinen adding 13 saves in relief.

The November game against the Predators saw a tighter, more high-scoring affair. Goals from Zachary L’Heureux, Aatu Räty, Elias Pettersson, and Kiefer Sherwood weren’t enough to overcome Steven Stamkos’ two goals and Roman Josi’s game-winner for Nashville. Gustav Nyquist added an empty-netter for the Predators. Conor Garland led the Canucks with five shots on goal, while Sherwood recorded five hits. Several Canucks players demonstrated strong defensive efforts with multiple blocked shots.

December’s player of the month was Quinn Hughes (20 points), following Jake DeBrusk’s November win (20 points) and Kevin Lankinen’s October victory (25 points). The team’s performance suggests a need for improved defensive consistency, despite showing offensive potential in both matches.
