Sat Jan 04 06:52:55 UTC 2025: ## Pant Blasts Second-Fastest Test Fifty for India, Shatters Australian Record

**Sydney, Australia (January 4, 2025)** – Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant smashed the second-fastest Test fifty by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 29 balls during the fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground today. This also sets a new record for the fastest fifty by a visiting batsman in Australia, surpassing previous marks set by England’s John Brown (1895) and Roy Fredericks (1975).

Pant’s whirlwind innings included six fours and three sixes. He narrowly missed achieving the fastest Indian Test fifty, having reached 47 runs in a mere 23 balls before requiring six additional deliveries to complete his half-century. His previous record stood at 28 balls, achieved against Sri Lanka in 2022. Pant’s explosive knock began with a six off Scott Boland and culminated with another maximum off Mitchell Starc.

This remarkable feat places Pant second on the list of fastest Test fifties by Indians, behind only his own previous record.
