**Mysuru, January 4, 2025** – Professor Muzaffar Assadi, a prominent political analyst, writer, and former acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of social activism and a commitment to accessible, secular, scientific education. The All-India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) mourned his loss, highlighting his dedication to these ideals.
Prof. Assadi, who retired from the University of Mysore in 2022, authored 11 books exploring themes of feminism, social movements, identity, politics, and fundamentalism. His works included titles such as *Bahuroopi Strivada Kathana*, *Chaluvali*, *Asmita*, *Rajakarana*, and *Moolabhutavada*.
AIDSO district secretary Nithin described Prof. Assadi as a strong supporter of their 10th All-India Students’ Conference, which focused on “Saving Education, Humanity, and Culture.” He emphasized Prof. Assadi’s unwavering belief in the accessibility of secular, scientific, and democratic education for all.
