Thu Jan 02 20:03:33 UTC 2025: **Federal Investigation Underway After Tesla Cybertruck Explosion Kills Decorated Green Beret**

LAS VEGAS, NV – A decorated Green Beret, identified as Matthew Livelsberger, was found dead inside a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Year’s Day, killing him and injuring seven others. Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that the coroner determined Livelsberger died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head prior to the explosion. A handgun was found at his feet.

The explosion, which caused minimal damage beyond the vehicle itself, has baffled investigators. Special Agent Kenny Cooper of the ATF expressed surprise at the apparent lack of sophistication in the device, given Livelsberger’s extensive military experience, which included service in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Tajikistan. Early investigations suggest the Cybertruck contained fireworks and camp fuel cannisters.

The FBI has launched a federal investigation, executing a search warrant at a Colorado Springs residence linked to the incident. The FBI, ATF, and Colorado Springs Police Department conducted the search, which is expected to last several hours.

**Separate New Orleans Attack Deemed Unrelated**

Meanwhile, authorities are investigating a separate deadly car-ramming attack in New Orleans that killed at least 15 people, including the suspect, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, also a military veteran. At least 35 others were injured. While both incidents involved vehicles rented through the Turo app and both suspects had ties to Fort Bragg, officials have stressed that there is currently no evidence linking the two events. FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia stated that Jabbar appears to have acted alone in the New Orleans attack, despite initial reports suggesting accomplices. President Biden echoed this assessment, stating that no connection has been established between the two attacks.

The investigations into both incidents are ongoing. President Biden has directed his team to expedite the investigations.
