**Philadelphia, PA –** A 24-year-old US Army veteran and dual US-Irish citizen has been indicted on charges of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. Jack Danaher Molloy, arrested in Chicago last month and transferred to Pennsylvania this week, allegedly traveled to Lebanon and Syria in August in an attempt to join Hezbollah.
According to the Department of Justice, Molloy’s efforts to join the Lebanon-based group, designated a terrorist organization by the US, were unsuccessful. Despite this, he reportedly continued attempts to join Hezbollah, maintaining online communication with individuals in Lebanon after his return to the United States.
The indictment further alleges that Molloy openly promoted anti-Semitic violence on social media and expressed his intention to kill Jewish people in a WhatsApp message to a family member. He allegedly described joining Hezbollah and carrying out such acts as his “master plan.”
If convicted, Molloy faces up to 20 years in prison. The case is currently pending in Pennsylvania.
