**KOCHI, INDIA –** Malayalam action thriller *Marco*, starring Unni Mukundan, continues its successful run at the box office, grossing ₹79.65 crore worldwide in just 14 days. While the film has been billed as India’s most violent movie, fellow actor Tovino Thomas attributes its success to more than just the graphic violence.
Speaking during the promotion of his own film, *Identity*, Tovino praised *Marco*’s technical achievements and performances, stating that these elements made the violence believable and impactful. He emphasized that effective emotional conveyance is key to a film’s success, regardless of genre.
Directed by Haneef Adeni, *Marco* follows the titular gangster’s vengeful rampage after a personal loss. The film, rated A for its extreme violence, initially released in Malayalam and Hindi, before expanding to Telugu and Tamil, with further international releases planned for Korea. The film also stars Kabir Duhan Singh, Siddique, Abhimanyu Thilakan, and Jagadish.
Tovino’s own film, *Identity*, co-starring Trisha Krishnan and directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, opened in theatres on January 2nd. The crime thriller focuses on a female witness and a sketch artist working together to identify a killer.
