**OTTAWA, Ontario – January 2, 2025** – The USA National Junior Team will face Switzerland today in a pivotal quarterfinal matchup at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. The winner advances to the semifinals with a shot at a medal, while the loser’s tournament ends.

Team USA, the second seed, enters the game riding high after a dominant 4-1 victory over Canada on New Year’s Eve. Goaltender Trey Augustine recorded 38 saves, and the team capitalized on three power-play opportunities.

Switzerland, finishing fourth in Group B, secured only one preliminary round win. Their lone victory came against Kazakhstan on December 31st. Historically, the USA holds a commanding lead in their head-to-head record against Switzerland, with 24 wins and two ties in 26 previous World Junior encounters. Their only previous quarterfinal meeting resulted in a 3-2 U.S. win in 2017.
