**Hyderabad, India** – Actor Allu Arjun, involved in a case stemming from a stampede at a Hyderabad theatre during the premiere of his film “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” has been granted regular bail. The incident, which occurred on December 4th, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her nine-year-old son.
Arjun was arrested on December 13th and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. He was initially granted interim bail, which expired on January 10th. A Nampally court granted him regular bail on Friday, requiring two sureties of ₹50,000 each. He is required to appear before the investigating officer on Sunday.
The stampede occurred when a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Arjun and music director Devi Sri Prasad. Police suspect the boy suffered brain damage due to asphyxiation. Following the incident, a case was filed against Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized Arjun for allegedly visiting the theatre without police permission and holding a roadshow, emphasizing the responsibility of celebrities in maintaining crowd control. Arjun maintained that the allegations were “humiliating” and expressed remorse for the incident, claiming he sought permission from the theatre management and cooperated with police instructions. He has offered financial compensation to the victim’s family, totaling ₹2.25 crore. The boy’s father has indicated a willingness to withdraw the case. A meeting between the Chief Minister and prominent figures from the Telugu film industry reaffirmed the commitment to upholding law and order and shared responsibility for crowd control.
