**New Delhi, January 4, 2025** – Justice C.T. Ravikumar, who retired from the Supreme Court of India on Friday, urged for constructive public criticism of significant Supreme Court judgments. In his farewell address, Justice Ravikumar emphasized the importance of public discourse in the development of law, stating that such discussions are vital for a healthy judiciary.
He highlighted the crucial role of the public in holding the judiciary accountable, asserting that “the people of India are, after all, the guardians of the judiciary.” Justice Ravikumar, born in Kerala in 1960, served as a judge on the Kerala High Court before his appointment to the Supreme Court in 2021. His career spanned decades, beginning with his enrollment as an advocate in 1986. He concluded his address by expressing confidence that the Indian public would safeguard the judiciary, while the judiciary in turn would protect the public under the Constitution.
