**Mumbai, January 3, 2025** – BJP MLA Suresh Dhas has accused the Maharashtra government of overlooking certain communities in its appointments to key government posts in Beed district. He claimed that officials from a single, unnamed community have disproportionately filled these roles for a significant period. Dhas stated that this violates established governmental structure and creates a sense of inequity among other communities.
His comments follow the recent murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, a Maratha, with accused from the Vanjari community. While Dhas denied targeting NCP leader and State Minister Dhananjay Munde, he did call for the removal of the Beed public prosecutor for allegedly refusing to represent the state in the case against Munde’s aide, Walmik Karad, arrested on December 31st on extortion charges related to the murder.
Dhas also requested the transfer of the accused in both the murder and extortion cases from Beed district jail to either Harsul or Nashik to prevent interference with the investigation. He declined to comment directly on allegations that Karad was seen at Munde’s office the day after the extortion charges were filed, but stated that if true, Munde should resign.
