Fri Jan 03 00:02:56 UTC 2025: ## FBI Confirms New Orleans Truck Attack Was Lone-Wolf Act of Terrorism

**New Orleans, LA** – The FBI has concluded its investigation into the New Year’s Day truck attack in New Orleans, confirming that the perpetrator, 42-year-old US Army veteran Shamsud Din Jabbar, acted alone. The attack, which killed 15 people on Bourbon Street, has been officially designated an act of terrorism.

FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia described Jabbar’s actions as “premeditated and an evil act.” Investigators recovered an Islamic State flag from the rented truck, which Jabbar had obtained through the Turo app. Social media posts made by Jabbar hours before the attack revealed his pledge of allegiance to ISIS and threats to murder his family. The FBI also confirmed that Jabbar planted two homemade explosive devices, providing visual evidence to support this claim.

Jabbar’s brother, Abdur Jabbar, spoke to the New York Times, describing his brother as a “sweetheart” but acknowledging a potential shift in his worldview due to radicalization. While Jabbar served at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the FBI has found no link between this attack and the separate Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas, despite both suspects having served at the same base, albeit at different times.

The investigation definitively rules out the possibility of Jabbar having accomplices in the New Orleans attack.
