Fri Jan 03 16:08:53 UTC 2025: **KTR Accuses Telangana Government of Rythu Bharosa Scam**
HYDERABAD, January 3, 2025 – K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has accused the Telangana State Government of orchestrating a scheme to deny investment support to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa program. He alleges the government’s demand for self-declarations from farmers is a tactic to falsely label them as swindlers.
Addressing a press conference, Rao demanded the withdrawal of the self-declaration requirement and an end to what he termed “false propaganda.” He challenged the government to publicly release village-wise lists of farmers who received Rythu Bharosa support in previous years, questioning the need for renewed data collection when the government already possesses 12 years’ worth of records.
Rao further demanded the publication of lists detailing farmers who allegedly received Rythu Bandhu benefits unethically, suggesting this information be displayed at gram panchayat offices. He also called for transparency regarding paddy procurement and bonus payments to farmers.
The BRS leader criticized the government’s handling of other schemes, claiming that applications for the Abhaya Hastham and six other guarantees were merely delaying tactics. He stated the government owes farmers ₹17,500 per acre due to underpayment of promised benefits for the 2023-24 Rabi and 2024-25 Kharif and Rabi seasons.
