**NEW DELHI** – Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has voiced his support for Blinkit’s newly launched ambulance service, but stressed the importance of adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. In a press briefing Friday, Goyal stated that his only condition for the quick-commerce company is full legal compliance. “My only submission would be that they have to make sure that they meet the law of the land, and whatever other legal requirements should be properly taken care of,” he said.
Blinkit, known for its rapid delivery of groceries and other goods, launched its ambulance service in Gurugram on Thursday. The service, which aims to provide quick and reliable emergency transport, initially involves five ambulances equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen, AEDs, and trained medical personnel.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the initiative on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that profit is not the primary goal. The company plans to expand the service to other major Indian cities within the next two years and is appealing to the public to give right-of-way to its ambulances. Dhindsa highlighted the critical need for such a service, particularly in light of the challenges experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
