**PASADENA, CA** – The Ohio State Buckeyes’ quarterback, Will Howard, is preparing for the Rose Bowl, culminating an 11-2 season that has been a whirlwind for both him and his family. While fans have experienced the highs and lows of a rollercoaster season, for Will’s parents, Maureen and Bob Howard, the ride has been amplified tenfold.
Maureen, a physical therapist with a Master’s degree from Temple University and co-founder of the Baby Merlin Company, and Bob, a former vice president at M&T and Mellon Banks with a Master’s in counseling psychology from Villanova University, have been unwavering pillars of support throughout Will’s football journey. They credit their son’s success to a combination of natural talent and an instilled work ethic.
“We knew the college football journey would have its ups and downs,” Maureen stated. “But we’ve always focused on the importance of leaving it all on the field, win or lose.” This philosophy is evident in Will’s impressive stats this season: 3,171 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.
Bob, who first recognized Will’s exceptional athletic ability at just two years old, shared, “He was shooting baskets and making them! We knew he was special.” While the family always knew Will was talented, his current success at Ohio State still feels surreal. “This is a dream,” Bob admitted.
Will’s journey took him from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, where he excelled at Downingtown West High School, to Kansas State, where he played four seasons before transferring to Ohio State in January 2024 and securing the starting quarterback position in August. Now, as he prepares for the Rose Bowl, his parents will be there, cheering him on, a testament to the enduring power of family support in the world of competitive college football. The question remains: Is Will’s success solely attributed to talent, or is the unwavering support of his parents equally crucial to his achievements?
