**Kolkata, January 2, 2025** – The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) celebrated its 28th foundation day on Wednesday, with party chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reaffirming the party’s commitment to the people of Bengal. Ms. Banerjee, who founded the party on January 1, 1998, emphasized the ongoing struggle for the rights of the people and highlighted the party’s dedication to service over power. The celebration included a song composed by Ms. Banerjee herself and performed by Minister Indranil Sen.

General secretary Abhishek Banerjee also extended his gratitude to party workers via social media, praising their hard work and dedication. Celebrations were held across West Bengal, marked by the unfurling of the party flag at various offices.

The TMC’s journey has seen significant milestones, including its 2011 victory over the 34-year-long Left Front rule in West Bengal, achieved in alliance with the Congress. Despite facing allegations of corruption and misrule, the party secured 29 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 elections. However, the party faces upcoming challenges, including the 2026 assembly elections and internal factionalism. This internal strife was recently evident in a clash between two factions in Bhangar, highlighting ongoing tensions within the party.
