HYDERABAD, INDIA – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) and the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP), demanding an explanation regarding the stampede at Sandhya Theater on December 4th.

The incident occurred during the premiere of the film *Pushpa 2*. A lawyer, Ramarao, filed a complaint with the NHRC alleging that the stampede, which resulted in the death of one woman, Revati, and serious injuries to a boy, was caused by the presence of actor Allu Arjun at the premiere and subsequent police lathi-charge (caning).

The NHRC has ordered a senior-ranking police officer to investigate the Sandhya Theater incident and submit a report within four weeks. The report should detail the circumstances leading to the stampede and the actions taken by the police.
