**Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh:** A chilling case of multiple murders has sent shockwaves through Lucknow. A man, Arshad, allegedly murdered his mother and four sisters in a hotel room, a crime he meticulously planned and executed, reportedly inspired by crime thrillers and the Bollywood film *Drishyam*.
Police investigations revealed that Arshad, who arrived in Lucknow from Ajmer on December 30th, booked a room at the Sharanjeet Hotel in Rewri Mandi. After spending the day sightseeing, the family returned to their room around 8 pm on December 31st. Arshad, after picking up food from a nearby restaurant, allegedly laced it with sleeping pills. Once his family fell asleep, he slit the wrists of his four sisters and strangled them, along with his mother, using a dupatta. His father, Badar, was apparently present during the murders but did not participate.
Around 1 am, Arshad and his father were seen walking outside the hotel. The hotel manager, Johar Ali, reported their suspicious behavior. Around 4 am, the father and son left the hotel under the pretense of getting tea. They later informed police of the incident at the Husain Ganj Loco Chowki around 5 am.
Police arrived at the hotel around 7 am and discovered the five bodies. Hotel staff reported hearing no screams throughout the night. The gruesome discovery has left the local community in a state of shock and raised concerns about security at budget hotels. Arshad’s confession to the police further highlights the disturbing influence of violent media on his actions. The investigation is ongoing.
