Tue Dec 31 20:19:23 UTC 2024: **Congress Leader to Sue AAP Leaders for Defamation**

NEW DELHI, January 1, 2025 – Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit announced he will file a defamation suit against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh for alleging he received money from the BJP. Dikshit, contesting the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, is seeking ₹10 crore in damages, with half earmarked for cleaning the Yamuna River and the other half for improving Delhi’s air quality.

Dikshit accused AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of failing to provide evidence of corruption within the previous Congress government, dismissing Kejriwal’s claims as “360 pages of newspaper clippings.” He questioned the timing of AAP’s recently announced election schemes, asking why they were unveiled only now after a decade in power. He also highlighted the court’s restriction preventing Kejriwal from signing official files, casting doubt on his ability to implement the promised initiatives.

In response, AAP issued a statement accusing Dikshit of echoing BJP talking points and ignoring allegations of vote-buying against BJP leader Parvesh Verma. The statement further characterized Dikshit’s actions as an attempt to deflect from the controversy.
