BENGALURU, INDIA – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully completed its Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission, a significant milestone in India’s space program. Launched on December 30, 2024, the mission involved two 220-kilogram satellites, SDX01 (the Chaser) and SDX02 (the Target), which successfully performed complex maneuvers to approach, dock, and undock. The experiment also successfully tested the transfer of electric power between the two spacecraft.
SpaDeX demonstrates India’s growing capabilities in in-space docking technology, a crucial step towards future ambitious projects such as constructing space stations, repairing satellites in orbit, and enabling in-space refueling missions. The successful completion of this mission positions India as a key player in advanced space technologies and strengthens its position in the global space race.
