Wed Jan 01 00:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru in 2025: Civic Polls, Infrastructure Projects, and Tech Advancements Dominate Outlook

**Bengaluru, January 1, 2025** – The new year brings a flurry of anticipated developments for Bengaluru, according to a recent *The Hindu* report. Key issues include the upcoming civic elections, massive infrastructure projects, and technological advancements.

Uncertainty looms over the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) civic polls, expected five years after the last elected council in September 2025. Meanwhile, the city administration plans to borrow ₹46,000 crore for the Peripheral Ring Road and Tunnel Road projects. Controversial plans to continue white-topping roads and finalize land for the Skydeck project are also expected to proceed despite public opposition.

On the infrastructure front, the much-delayed 18km Yellow Line metro connecting R.V. Road and Bommasandra is slated to begin operations early this year. Further, January will likely see the inauguration of the state’s first waste-to-energy plant in Bidadi, alongside the commissioning of an EV charging station with battery storage in Devanahalli. The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) is also set to implement its first multi-year tariff order.

In the education sector, the State Education Policy (SEP) Commission’s final report, headed by Sukhadeo Thorat, is expected in February, with implementation planned for the 2025-26 academic year. The Bengaluru Police will focus on integrating AI into law enforcement, crime detection, and traffic management. The report concludes with a look at the diverse sections of *The Hindu* newspaper.
