**MUMBAI, January 1, 2025** – The Indian stock market commenced trading today, the first day of the new year, operating under its standard schedule. Trading hours were 9:00 am to 9:15 am for the pre-open session and 9:15 am to 3:30 pm for the regular session.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have announced 14 public holidays for the Indian stock market in 2025, in addition to the regular weekend closures.
In contrast, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) operated with a shortened trading day, closing its evening session at 5:00 pm in observance of New Year’s Day.
