**New York, NY –** Six people, including a 12-year-old girl and her mother, were shot in a brazen attack at a Bronx convenience store on Monday, December 30, 2024. Police believe two gunmen targeted a group of individuals standing outside the store on White Plains Road, opening fire as they ran across the street.
According to Police Interim Chief of Department John Chell, one of the intended targets used the 40-year-old mother as a human shield, resulting in her being shot in the stomach. The child was also injured. The other victims, four men aged 18 to 21, suffered gunshot wounds to their arms and legs. Five victims were transported to hospitals by the Fire Department; the sixth sought medical attention independently.
Chief Chell described the incident as a “brazen and heartless attack” and confirmed that police have video footage of the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains under investigation. The condition of the victims is currently unknown.
