Wed Jan 01 10:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Garcia Postpones Rizin Fight, Promises 2025 Rematch with Anpo

**TOKYO, JAPAN –** Ryan Garcia, who was forced to withdraw from his New Year’s Eve Rizin FF bout due to a hand injury, has announced he will undergo surgery and reschedule his fight with Rukiya Anpo for 2025. In a statement released by Rizin during their “Rizin Decade” event, Garcia apologized to fans and the promotion for the postponement.

The decorated boxer revealed a right wrist injury sustained during training camp necessitated the surgery and subsequent recovery period. Despite the setback, Garcia remains committed to fighting Anpo in Japan, vowing a resounding victory upon his return. “I am coming back to finish what we started with Anpo,” Garcia stated, “and he will eat his words, I guarantee it.”

Garcia’s announcement comes while he is serving a one-year suspension following a failed drug test that overturned his win against Devin Haney. Anpo, meanwhile, secured a victory in Garcia’s place against Sina Karimian on Tuesday, in a fight marred by a post-fight brawl involving both fighters and even the referee. The rescheduled Garcia-Anpo fight is highly anticipated for 2025.
