**Madurai, January 1, 2025** – Madurai city ushered in the New Year peacefully, thanks to a robust police presence. Over 1,500 officers were deployed at key locations to prevent any untoward incidents, successfully keeping troublemakers at bay from celebrating crowds.

Authorities focused on preventing reckless driving, particularly among two-wheeler riders. Police stationed personnel at strategic points, including the New Natham Road elevated corridor, to deter racing. This resulted in 39 cases filed against those engaging in rash and negligent riding, captured on CCTV cameras. An additional six cases were registered for drunk driving, contributing to a total of 356 traffic violations booked throughout the night. These violations included helmetless riding, triple riding, and illegal parking.

Commissioner of Police J. Loganathan participated in celebratory cake-cutting ceremonies across the city, sharing the festivities with officers and local residents.
