Wed Jan 01 04:19:43 UTC 2025: ## ISRO’s Ambitious 2025 Space Mission Calendar Unveiled
**Hyderabad, India –** The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced an ambitious slate of space missions for 2025, marking a significant year for the nation’s space program. The year will see the launch of at least half a dozen major missions, including the highly anticipated Gaganyaan mission’s unmanned test flight.
ISRO will commence the year with the launch of the advanced navigation satellite, NVS-02, in January, marking its 100th mission. This will be followed by the launch of “Vyomitra,” an unmanned robotic astronaut, as part of the Gaganyaan program’s crucial unmanned test flight. The success of this mission will pave the way for India’s first crewed space mission.
A highlight of 2025 will be the launch of NISAR (NASA-ISRO SAR), a joint Indo-US satellite, in March. This satellite, costing a staggering ₹12,505 crore, is touted as the world’s most expensive and will boast high-resolution capabilities, scanning the Earth every 12 days.
ISRO Chairman S Somanath described 2025 as an exciting year, with plans to launch four GSLV rockets, three PSLVs, and one SSLV. This ambitious plan follows a successful 2024, which saw 15 mission launches. Union Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted the significant progress of ISRO, noting that the organization, founded in 1969, has now reached a point where it is launching American satellites, generating over $400 million in revenue from the US and European Union in the last decade.
These missions will not only advance India’s space capabilities but also strengthen its position on the global stage. The year 2025 promises to be a pivotal moment in India’s space exploration journey. Further details regarding other planned missions are expected to be released throughout the year.
